Our Definition of Discipleship

Discipleship is ordinarily following Jesus to become like Jesus. Our model helps you integrate faith into every area of life, breaking the divide between sacred and secular. Jesus calls us to seek His kingdom first, transforming our goals from personal success to God’s purpose. This lifelong process invites you to apprentice under Jesus, adopting His lifestyle and revisiting His way regularly as a guide to follow Him fully.

The Four Paradigm Shifts

Four key shifts need to happen in your disciple. We need to shift from linear success to deepening love for God and others, from performance to resting in what Christ has accomplished, from needing to be exceptional to finding purpose in ordinary moments, and from gaining knowledge to being formed by Jesus in all aspects of life—joyful, mundane, or difficult—as we grow into His image.

Our Categories

Our categories for discipleship include your everyday life, missional living, spiritual disciplines, and our connection with others. These categories are not the Gospel; they’re simply a means to understanding and living with it.

Your Intake

This framework helps you reflect on your discipleship journey, offering categories to assess your engagement and steps to grow. The goal isn’t perfection but living fully into who Jesus calls you to be. Discipleship is seasonal, with varying focus areas, and encourages you to regularly ask, “How engaged am I/we in this practice?” as you grow in faith.

Find God in daily life

The Ordinary Guide offers a simple, practical framework for following Jesus in every aspect of life. This guide is organized into four key categories—connections, mission, everyday living, and disciplines—each designed to help you experience a deeper, more meaningful relationship with God.
